Wisconsin radon contractors: territory, leads, and how we work
Radon Connect routes homeowner requests across the Madison market, covering Dane County — an EPA Zone 1 county in a state where elevated indoor radon is common across the southern half.
Wisconsin is one of the states without state-level radon licensing, which puts more weight on national certification and on how a contractor documents their own work. Both are part of what we verify.
Licensing expectations in Wisconsin
Wisconsin does not license radon professionals at the state level. The state health department directs homeowners toward nationally certified professionals, and we onboard on that basis: current NRPP or NRSB mitigation certification, verified at application. Because there is no state license to fall back on, we also ask for proof of insurance and a sample written scope of work — in an unlicensed state, documentation quality is the signal.
Territory exclusivity
Territory is assigned at the county level; Dane County is the single routing territory in this market today, covering Madison, Middleton, Sun Prairie, Verona, Waunakee, and the surrounding communities. A qualified homeowner request is shared with no more than three certified contractors, and roster size is capped. A single-territory market means that cap is doing real work.
How homeowners are qualified before you hear from us
Homeowners complete a multi-step form before anything reaches you: result band, transaction context, timeline, property type, foundation type, and property ZIP resolved deterministically against the Dane County territory. Dispatch happens at or above 4 pCi/L, or between 2 and 4 inside an active transaction. Because Wisconsin has no radon-specific disclosure statute, many Madison requests come from buyers who ordered their own test during the inspection period and are working a short clock.
Service area requirements
Claim Dane County only if you cover it broadly — Madison proper, the campus-ring rental stock, and the growth ring through Sun Prairie and Verona all route through the same territory. Campus-adjacent converted rentals are a meaningful share of local requests and are designed at the building level; if you do not take that work, tell us at onboarding.
How to apply
Send your business name, NRPP or NRSB mitigation certification number, proof of insurance, a sample written scope of work, and the counties you serve through the contact page. We verify certification currency before routing. No application fee, no monthly charge, no purchased exclusivity — compensation is per referral and disclosed to homeowners on every page.

Wisconsin contractor questions
Wisconsin has no state license. What qualifies a contractor here?
Current national certification through NRPP or NRSB, which is what the state health department points homeowners toward, plus insurance and a written scope of work that names suction points, routing, fan model, sealing, warranty, and a post-mitigation verification test. In an unlicensed state, the documentation is the credential.
How do buyers find us if there is no disclosure requirement?
Through their own inspection. Wisconsin handles radon under the general Real Estate Condition Report rather than a radon-specific statute, so Madison buyers who care order the test themselves during the inspection period. Those requests arrive with a real number and a real deadline.
Will you add more Wisconsin markets?
Not on any schedule we will promise you. Madison is the Wisconsin market today, and we launch new markets only when real contractor coverage exists — the same rule that keeps us from claiming homeowner coverage we cannot deliver.
