How Radon Connect works
Referral platforms earn distrust when the mechanics hide. Here is ours end to end — what happens to your request, who sees it, how we’re paid, and where our role stops.
The path of a request, step by step
- You submit the form. Test result band, transaction context, timeline, property basics, ZIP, and contact details — with an explicit consent checkbox that is never pre-checked. Until you check it and submit, nothing goes anywhere.
- Your ZIP resolves deterministically. Every supported ZIP maps to exactly one county territory. Unsupported ZIPs are told so immediately — we don’t accept requests we can’t route, except as clearly-labeled expansion interest.
- We apply qualification rules, openly. Requests with results at or above 4 pCi/L — or 2–4 results inside an active transaction — are marked qualified and eligible for contractor introduction. Below-2, untested, and no-transaction consideration-band requests are recorded for guidance and review instead of being blasted to contractors. The rules exist so contractors get real work and you don’t get pointless calls.
- Up to 3 independent contractors receive it. Matching is rotation-based within your territory among licensed network contractors — no pay-to-jump-the-line placement. Each contractor contacts you directly with their own quote.
- You compare and decide. Or don’t — requesting quotes obligates you to nothing. Every contract, price, schedule, and warranty is between you and the contractor you pick.
How we make money
Radon Connect is a free referral service for homeowners. We are not a radon testing or mitigation contractor, and we do not perform testing, inspections, diagnosis, or mitigation work. When you request quotes, we share your information with up to 3 independent, Illinois-licensed radon professionals, and we may receive compensation from those businesses for the referral. Each contractor is an independent company responsible for its own licensing, pricing, scheduling, workmanship, and warranties.
That compensation never changes your price obligation to us, which is zero, and never makes us a party to your contract. We have no stake in which contractor you choose or in whether you mitigate at all.
What contractors must have
Network contractors are independent businesses that must hold current IEMA-OHS radon mitigation licenses, which we check at onboarding — and which you should verify yourself anyway (Before hiring any contractor — including one introduced through Radon Connect — verify their current license directly with IEMA-OHS. our licensing guide shows how in two minutes).
What happens to your information
Your request is stored securely, shared with the matched contractors (that sharing is the service), and used to operate and improve the platform. It is not sold to data brokers or shared beyond the contractors and the service providers that run our infrastructure. The privacy policy has the complete, binding version.
Common questions
Why only three contractors instead of blasting my request widely?
Because five identical calls help no one. Three independent quotes give you real comparison power while keeping each contractor’s odds worth their effort — which keeps good contractors in the network. It also caps the contact you consented to at something civilized.
Can I ask you which contractor to pick?
We deliberately don’t answer that. Our neutrality is the product: we have no visibility into your quotes and no financial reason to prefer one bidder. What we give you instead is the comparison framework — design completeness, license verification, warranty terms, verification retest — on our cost and licensing pages.
What if no contractor responds to my request?
Then we failed at the one thing we do, and we’d rather know: contact us and we’ll re-route or tell you honestly that coverage fell short. What we will not do is pretend a response is coming. IEMA-OHS’s statewide listings remain your direct path in parallel — we link them rather than hide them.
How do I get my information deleted?
Ask via the contact page and we delete your request data, subject to records we must keep (like consent logs). Contractors who already received your request hold their own copies under their own obligations — we’ll tell you which contractors those were so you can reach them too.
