Privacy policy

Effective July 29, 2026. Applies to this website and its quote-request service.

The short version

You give us information for one purpose — getting radon mitigation quotes from independent licensed contractors — and sharing your request with those contractors is the service. We may be compensated by contractors for referrals. We don’t sell your information to data brokers, we don’t share it beyond what this policy describes, and the quote form collects nothing until you submit it with the consent box checked.

What we collect

  • Quote request data (you provide it): radon test result range, transaction context, timeline, property type and foundation, property ZIP code, name, email, phone, preferred contact method, optional notes, and your consent — including a timestamp and the version of the consent text you agreed to.
  • Technical data (collected automatically): the page your request came from, referrer, and browser user-agent, used for operation and abuse prevention. Our intake service processes your network address as part of ordinary web infrastructure.
  • Browser storage: we use localStorage to prevent accidental duplicate submissions (a hashed fingerprint of email + ZIP, kept 24 hours) and sessionStorage to show your confirmation page. Neither is used for advertising.
  • Analytics: if we enable privacy-respecting analytics, events are aggregated (full ZIPs are never sent — at most the first three digits) and this section will name the provider. No analytics run today that this policy doesn’t cover.

How we use and share it

  • Contractor referral: your request is shared with up to 3 independent, Illinois-licensed radon mitigation contractors covering your territory so they can contact you as you chose. They are independent businesses handling your information under their own responsibilities.
  • Service providers: infrastructure that runs the platform — website hosting, database, and email delivery — processes data on our behalf under their service terms.
  • Operations: qualification review, duplicate prevention, abuse prevention, coverage planning (unsupported-ZIP interest), and legal compliance.
  • Compensation: we may receive referral compensation from contractors. We do not otherwise sell personal information.

Retention

Quote requests and consent records are retained while useful for the referral and for our legitimate records, then deleted or anonymized. Duplicate-prevention fingerprints expire in your browser after 24 hours.

Your choices

  • Access or deletion: ask via the contact page and we will delete your request data, except records we must keep (such as consent logs). We’ll identify which contractors received your request so you can contact them about their copies.
  • Stop contractor contact: tell the contractor directly (fastest) or ask us and we’ll relay it to those we referred.
  • Don’t submit: every informational page on this site works with no account and no form.

Other things you’d want to know

  • This service is for adults; we don’t knowingly collect children’s information.
  • Data is processed in the United States.
  • We’ll post changes to this policy here with a new effective date; material changes to how requests are shared would be reflected in the consent text itself.
  • External links (EPA, IEMA-OHS, Illinois General Assembly) lead to sites with their own policies.
