Your home has a crawl space

There is a crawl space under part or all of the house.

A crawl space with exposed earth has no slab between the soil and the building, so the entry path is the whole floor of the space rather than joints in concrete.

That changes the approach: instead of drawing from beneath a slab, a design generally has to create a sealed surface to draw from.
